We are recruiting: Legal Trainee

Do you want to be part of our success story and move the green transition forward? Do you think it is possible to run a profitable business while saving the planet? Do you believe in doing what is right over what is quick and easy?

Are you a law student who wants to see how legal work actually shapes real sustainable energy projects, not just from the outside, but from inside the team working with them?

About Etha

We are now looking for a Legal Trainee to join our Project Advisory Services team at Etha.

Etha is a sustainable energy consultancy. Established in 2002, we have grown together with the field of commercial wind power in Finland and have taken part in planning and implementing a significant share of the wind power built in the country. Today our 35 consultants work across onshore wind, offshore wind, solar power, data centers and energy storage solutions, and our services range from full-scale project development to stand-alone assignments such as due diligence, layout optimization and transaction advisory.

Since 2026, Etha has been part of Ametalis Group, a Nordic group specialized in sustainability-promoting services.

The team you would join

This position sits within our Project Advisory Services team, while our lawyers work across the organization in a hybrid setup. Our lawyers work closely with the teams developing, permitting and delivering the projects, rather than operating as a separate function commenting from the sidelines.

From a legal point of view, we are involved in more or less everything that happens in our projects. We draft and negotiate contracts, handle matters relating to corporate transactions, run due diligence processes and support our permitting specialists on legal questions. We follow projects from an early stage all the way through to transactions and implementation.

The work is practical. That means close cooperation with our development, project, commercial and technical teams, as well as with external advisors, clients and counterparties.

What you would do

As a Legal Trainee, you would get a broad view of our work and take part in:

  • reviewing and commenting on contracts
  • carrying out legal research and preparing memos and investigations
  • assisting in transactions and due diligence processes
  • supporting the team in day-to-day legal tasks

You would not be stuck with the same tasks week after week. Responsibility grows step by step as your skills and confidence grow.

What we are looking for

  • Law studies under way. You do not need to be far along, students at the beginning of their studies are equally welcome to apply
  • Care and precision in written work, and a clear sense of your own quality control before something leaves your desk
  • The ability to prioritize, ask when something is unclear, and keep track of what you have promised to deliver
  • A practical, solution-oriented mindset and the willingness to work with people from very different backgrounds
  • Good written and spoken English, plus either good written or good spoken Finnish or Swedish. Command of all three languages is an advantage

Prior legal work experience is not required. Curiosity, reliability and a genuine interest in the energy transition matter more to us.

What we offer

  • A wide range of real assignments, not observation from the side
  • A workplace with a lot of different expertise: lawyers, project developers, permitting specialists, technical and commercial experts
  • Guidance and support from experienced colleagues
  • A front-row seat to the projects that are building Finland’s sustainable energy capacity
  • Working hours that flex with your studies, agreed together as we go
