At Etha, Jukka Rönnlund leads the team that works with project development and permitting. In the final stages of his engineering studies, Jukka focused on investigating the role of landowners in wind power projects – and outlined his future career. Jukka has now worked at Etha for nine years.
Jukka manages several wind power projects that are in different stages of the permitting process. He also takes care of Etha’s sales and marketing.
”The best part of my job is meeting people. Colleagues and customers always bring new insights to the table when we discuss projects. At public events, professional skills are put to the real test when wind power’s status as the superior energy production form is questioned,” Jukka says.
Diverse work community
Over the years, Jukka’s expertise has developed together with Etha.
“It is fun to work with the Etha community. As an engineer, I am constantly learning new things from my colleagues who know a lot about contract law and project economics. When you add three languages to the mix, the learning curve is steep.”

Meaningful work for climate
Jukka, who is at the forefront of the energy transition, wants his work to have a positive impact on the world. Fighting against climate change and working for energy self-sufficiency make his job meaningful.
“At Etha, you get to challenge the balance of power in today’s world,” he states.
Jukka thinks it is great to work in Vaasa, the energy capital of Finland.
“Our office is on the top floor, so drinking the afternoon coffee while enjoying the sunset is a must.”
During its history, Etha has achieved several milestones that Jukka has also been able to witness. He describes the company’s ability to create new solutions as one of Etha’s strengths.
“First, a successful model for calculating windiness was created. After that, commercial know-how and profitability optimization tools were developed. We have now packaged and productized our project know-how, as we have deep understanding of the Finnish permitting process.”
